They are a very helpful resource, allowing you to quickly work out the bet stakes and profits available from the odds that you find. A spreadsheet can be used to store all bets made, which again is useful incase a bookmaker decides (or forgets) not to pay out on a certain event. Some programs and spreadsheets are able to track the bets made and the bookmakers used, which is a very handy feature. These can also be used to work out your overall betting profits over a set period of time.
